All Gilas
are shipped from my facility in Colorado
Springs, Colorado via Delta air cargo to your
nearest airport serviced by Delta. Before you
arrange shipping, be sure to check if Delta flies into your city directly.
Comair usually flies Delta air cargo into smaller cities. However, Comair
does not accept any shipments of live reptiles! Be certain that Delta
flies directly to the airport you want your Gilas to fly to.
Due to recent changes in shipping regulations
Gila monsters shipped on Delta Airlines need to
be packaged according to very strict guidelines
(the same required for other venomous reptiles).
These regulations even exceed the IATA
guidelines that normally dictate the shipping requirements of live
animals. Don't be surprised when it feels like you are
breaking into Fort Knox when you open your
shipping box!
Each Gila will be in an individual container.
This container will be in an inner box
constructed of 1/2 inch plywood with corners
reinforced with steel. This inner box is
contained in an outer box also constructed of
wood and insulated with polystyrene. You will
need a Phillips screwdriver to open both the
outer and inner box and cutters to cut the steel
banding. Due to the cost of the
shipping containers a box charge of $30 is
required for each shipment.
I
do not ship Gilas monsters via Delta Dash
because Delta does not insure Dash shipments for
the full value of the animals.
