How would we describe the characteristics of a Gila monster? It is predominantly diurnal (active during the day), prefers relatively cool temperatures, and loves water. Now let’s look at the environment in which it lives—the desert is characterized by extreme heat during the day and very dry conditions. How can we reconcile these apparent discrepancies?
